Sylvia Lunski, Owner/ Designer
My passion for working with people, combined with creative design and technical expertise in everything I do assures you a well-designed, creative project. With over 30 years of design industry experience, I have extensive experience with cabinets, flooring, furniture and draperies.
I bring to my clients an understanding of the construction process as well as trusted relationships with local contractors, trade partners and architects. This unique combination will provide you with exceptional results.
When designing, I pay close attention to your needs and preferences. We will work together to create beautiful functional spaces that perfectly reflect your personality and compliment your lifestyle.
I believe in giving back to our community and am passionate about helping those less fortunate. I am actively involved at my Church as well with FM Home Builders Association, Rotary International and Rebuilding Together. Serving others has become a cornerstone value that Design Direction’s success has been and will continue to be built on.
A Fargo resident, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our children and friends.

Christina Mehl, Interior Designer
I work closely with Sylvia & Callie on projects, specializing in window coverings, custom draperies, computerized drawings, and estimating, facilitating client presentations and scheduling installations. It is especially rewarding to work with clients who are redecorating, guiding them through the total transformation of their home without changing the structure.
While I grew up in Fargo, I also spent several years of my childhood and early teens living in Russia and Ukraine, where my parents are missionaries. It was during this time of living in the former Soviet Union that I began to cultivate a love for color, fabrics and design. I could often be found sewing pillows to cozy up a room or going through my fabric stash to find material to make curtains for windows or other projects. After returning to the United States, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from Westwood College in Denver.
I love spending time with family and friends. I stay busy through my involvement with the Home Builders Association, North Dakota Interior Designers, my church, Russian Harvest Ministries, and have a passion for quilting, scrapbooking and furniture refinishing.

Callie Blackwelder, Interior Designer
I get the privilege to work alongside Sylvia and Christina on a variety of projects as well as be the lead on my own projects. Computerized drawings, space planning, material selection, and marketing our business are my favorite parts of my job. What has been most rewarding has been being able to see a client’s project through from start to finish and seeing their reactions to our work every step of the way.
Ever since I was little, I have had a passion for space planning and making a space more functional. While my ideas weren’t always adopted, my parents never stopped supporting and encouraging me to pursue my dream of becoming an interior designer. In May of 2014, I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design with a minor in Business Administration from North Dakota State University.
During my free time, I enjoy spending time with Brett, my husband, family, and friends. Cooking, baking, and re-purposing furniture and accessories are a few of my hobbies. In my spare time, I enjoy fixing up our little farmhouse and being involved in the North Dakota Interior Designers, FM Home Builder’s Association, and various Chamber events.

Sydney Ulrich, Interior Design Assistant
I assist Sylvia Lunski and the Design Direction team with a number of tasks to help projects move forward smoothly. I’ve enjoyed gaining knowledge through working with the team on window treatments to new construction projects and everything in between. A few of the elements I’ve enjoyed since joining the team are client sketches and drawings, space planning, material selections, and graphic design. It is amazing to see a project go from samples on a layout table to a home our clients adore!
Growing up, I was very creative and always looking for ways to make my home unique. As I got older, I began developing perspective drawings and artwork to influence positive reactions, which sparked my interest in pursuing interior design and art. In May of 2016, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design and in May of 2017 completed the baccalaureate program in the study of fine art from North Dakota State University.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my nephew, as well as other family and friends. One of my favorite things to do is express myself through my artwork. It allows me to explore new ideas that encompass my passion for fine art and interior design. I stay active in the Fargo community through the North Dakota Interior Designers, Fargo-Moorhead Visual Arts, and creating artwork for non-profit organizations.
